Dear Ladies,

I want you to take 30 seconds (literally 30 seconds, time it!), and make a mental list of all of your flaws. Ready, Set, Go! ….Okay, how many flaws could you think of? 5? 10? 15? 20? More?

Alright, now take another 30 seconds (yes, time it) and make a mental list of all your strengths. Ready, Set, Go! …Now, how many strengths could you think of? Was it less than or more than the number of flaws you could name?

My results? …well, I could only think of one more strength than I could think of flaws. I still have a little work to do, but listen up:

As people, but especially as young ladies, we often fail to love and value ourselves the way we should. We tend to put more effort into loving, valuing, and making our friends, family, boyfriends, or even our hobbies a priority; and in the process, we neglect the amount of attention that we owe ourselves. How can you make another human being feel loved, valued, and important, if you can’t do the same for yourself? How can I tell all of you that you are beautiful, gorgeous, important, valuable, intelligent, courageous, or talented, if I can’t look in the mirror and tell myself the same…and believe myself? How can I tell you to “love thyself” if I don’t first love myself?

Well, lucky for you, I do love myself. I do think that I am beautiful, talented, valuable, intelligent, important, and blessed (I promise, i’m not conceited, but a little confidence is both necessary and healthy). So ladies, I am urging you to find your strengths (all of them, the deep and the superficial) and fall in love with them, fall in love with yourself. Okay, the next step is little harder (and a little crazier), but trust me on this…find all of your flaws, fall in love with them, fall in love with yourself. You can’t really fall in love with anything over night, so I promise you that this is going to be a process, but don’t give up because it is worth it…YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Now, try to do the exercise from the beginning of the post for longer periods of time and on paper! The longer you give yourself, the harder it will be, the more self reflection you will have to do and the deeper your answers will get. It WILL be tough, but it will also be very eye-opening. Ready? Set, Go!

Leave me a comment and let me know how it went. Then post a selfie on instagram, twitter, snapchat, facebook, pinterest, etc. with the hashtags #lovethyself #projectempoweru …Let’s spread a little self-love ladies, because our world is deficient! Too many people loving too many other people, trying to be too many other people, without first being themselves and loving themselves.
